Power of Pastries: Donate to Build a Better Future
WE PROVIDE SECOND CHANCES THROUGH SELF-SUFFICIENCY
The Bread Project has helped over 1500 hundred low-income people become self-sufficient through the art of baking. We train them and help them find jobs. Others are hired into our social enterprise.
Your tax-deductible donation helps us build our new home so we can continue to train students, empowering them on their path to self-sufficiency.
From our 15 years of experience we know baking is a skill that is replicable and transferable across all cultures and languages. We serve marginalized people facing multiple barriers to employment. This includes refugees, the re-entry population (ex-offenders or those with records), and other individuals looking to rebuild their lives. Each year an average of 260 refugees come from war-torn countries such as Iran, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan and are resettled in our counties (Alameda and Contra Costa). Many arrive with little or no resources, friends or family. Alongside our refugee population, we also work with the formerly incarcerated. Despite having served their time, they remain ostracized by society when reintegrating with the community.
The Bread Project provides training, a positive environment, a strong network of support and the pathway for a job. This is the lifeline they need to build a better future.
Help us transform lives and donate today. All donations are tax-deductible.
